The General Directorate of Meteorology has warned the public of the possibility of heavy downpours and localised hail in Alanya and the Mediterranean region. According to forecasts, the rainfall will intensify from Tuesday, 13 October; temperatures in Alanya are expected to drop to 17 degrees by the middle of the week.
Cool and wet air moving in from the Balkans will also affect Alanya at the start of the new week. Temperatures, which have been ranging between 28 and 30 degrees at the start of the week, are forecast to decrease gradually from 13 October onwards.
The expected rainfall for Alanya and the surrounding area is reported to be between 20 and 40 kilograms per square metre. Localised hailstorms may also occur during the downpours, which will be accompanied by thunder.
Authorities have urged the local population to take precautions against potential flooding in open agricultural areas, greenhouse operations and urban transport due to the sudden change in weather conditions.
The weather system bringing the rainfall is expected to remain active throughout the week.
