The Alanya Book Fair, which brings together book and literature enthusiasts, will be held for the eighth time this year under the slogan ‘In the Shadow of an 800-Year Legacy’. Throughout the ten-day programme, writers, poets and academics from various fields will take part in talks and book-signing events.
On the first day of the fair, author Burcu Bahar will meet her readers at 10.00 am for a talk and book-signing session entitled “Burcu Bahar & Doğa Dostu Dodo at the Red Tower…”. Haşim Yetkin, meanwhile, will host a talk and book-signing session titled ‘Alanya Through the Eyes of Our Teachers’ at 8.00 pm on the same day.
On 26 September, Işıl Işık will host a book-signing session at 4.00 pm. Author and presenter Gani Müjde will also meet book lovers at 8.00 pm during a talk entitled “Don’t Open a Shop If You Don’t Know How to Smile”.
Academics and poets will also be taking part
Prof. Dr Tufan Gündüz will take part in a talk entitled “Texts That Have Shaped Turkish History” at 8.00 pm on 27 September. Poet Haydar Ergülen will also hold a talk and book-signing event on the same day, entitled ‘The Flavour of Poetry, the Poetry of Flavour’.
Bureaucrat and writer Hanefi Avcı will address his readers at 8.00 pm on 29 September in a talk entitled ‘The Fight Against Terrorism and State Security’. Abdullah Ataşçı, meanwhile, will take part in the event ‘In the Footsteps of Time and Memory’ on 1 October at 8.00 pm.
Poet Nurullah Genç will take part in the fair on 2 October at 8.00 pm with a programme entitled “The Mystery of Words”. Economist and astrologer Engin Alan will hold a book-signing event on 3 October between 7.00 pm and 10.00 pm. Dr Ramazan Kurtoğlu will also give a talk titled “Virtual Currency, Synthetic Humans and Eco-Humans in the New World Order” at 8.00 pm on the same day.
On the final day of the fair, author Ahmet Ümit will meet his readers at 8.00 pm on 4 October for a talk and book-signing session entitled “The Cradle of Civilisations”.
