ALKÜ teams have completed the 2026 season of archaeological surface surveys conducted at the ancient city of Selinus in Gazipaşa, with the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The data obtained during the fieldwork, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr T. A., has been transferred to a digital archive.
The team, comprising specialist architects, archaeologists and philologists, focused on the slope tombs, defensive walls, the steep cliffs overlooking the harbour and the area surrounding the Temple of Trajan.
Drone imagery and high-precision measurement technologies were utilised at the research site. Using these methods, data relating to the ancient city’s funerary cult and its historical settlement pattern were mapped.
The research is expected to contribute to the region’s history and tourism.
