Workers at a hotel construction site in Alanya’s Kızlarpınarı neighbourhood staged a protest, claiming they had not received their wages. Two workers were later detained for allegedly damaging hotel property and were subsequently released under judicial control.
A payment dispute at a hotel construction site in Alanya first led to a workers’ protest and later turned into a judicial case.
According to information obtained, payments allegedly due to the subcontractor carrying out construction work at a four-star hotel in Kızlarpınarı were delayed. As a result, workers reportedly could not collect their daily wages.
Workers Gathered Outside the Hotel Over Unpaid Wages
The workers gathered at the entrance of the hotel and staged a sit-in, demanding that their wages be paid and their grievances resolved.
However, developments the following day changed the course of the incident.
Hotel Property Allegedly Thrown Into the Pool
Two workers, identified as O.G. (26) and F.P. (22), allegedly entered the hotel again and damaged hotel property by throwing several sun loungers and a coffee machine into the swimming pool.
Following a complaint from the hotel management, police officers detained the two workers.
Referred to Court with a Request for Arrest
After procedures at Saray Police Station were completed, the two suspects were referred to the Alanya Courthouse with a request for their arrest over allegations of damage to property and a workplace.
The duty magistrate ordered judicial control measures, including a ban on leaving the country, for O.G. and F.P.
The two suspects were subsequently released under judicial control.
