The quadruplet girls born on 3 September in Denizli to Durdali and Gamze Nur Çörüt, who live in the Kaş district of Antalya, were discharged from hospital following the completion of their intensive care treatment. One of the babies spent 21 days in the neonatal intensive care unit, whilst the other three spent 28 days there, before returning home to their family in Kaş.

Durdali Çörüt, aged 40, and Gamze Nur Çörüt, aged 37, who work as farmers in the Kınık neighbourhood, already had a four-year-old daughter named Güneş Devrim Çörüt. The couple, who wanted a second child, turned to IVF treatment after being unable to conceive naturally. Gamze Nur Çörüt’s pregnancy was closely monitored following the treatment.

Durdali Çörüt took his wife to Pamukkale University Hospital in Denizli on 2 September. Gamze Nur Çörüt gave birth to four baby girls during an operation on 3 September.

As the babies required incubator care following the birth, they were transferred by ambulance to a private hospital and admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit. The babies were discharged once they had gained weight and their treatment was complete. The couple travelled back and forth between Kaş and Denizli throughout the treatment.

The family named their daughters Dünya Eylem, Doğa Nur, Aylima Ülküm and Aysima İlkem. Durdali Çörüt, who also took on extra work to meet his babies’ needs, said: “We’re excited and amazed. When we heard they were quadruplets, we said, ‘It’s fate, it’s destiny.’ We already had a four-year-old daughter, so with our four baby girls, we now have five daughters. Looking after them will be challenging, but we’ll try our best to manage.”

Gamze Nur Çörüt, noting that her pregnancy had gone well, said, “My pregnancy went well. When we found out it was quadruplets, my husband and I were both delighted and utterly astonished. We weren’t expecting quadruplets; it was a huge surprise. Our families will also help look after them, and we’ll look after them together. The births went smoothly. Our babies spent some time in an incubator after the birth. Now we’re taking them home to our house in Kaş, Antalya, with me holding them in my arms here in Denizli,” she said.
