Two athletes from Alanya, who represent Turkey in motor racing, will be competing this weekend at the Mobility Resort Motegi Circuit in Japan. Toprak Razgatlıoğlu is competing in MotoGP with Prima Pramac Yamaha, whilst Deniz Öncü is competing in Moto2 with the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team. Whilst Toprak’s place of birth is listed as Alanya on Yamaha’s official rider profile, Deniz Öncü’s place of birth is also listed as Alanya on his official MotoGP profile.

Toprak will start the race from Q1

During Friday’s MotoGP sessions at the Japanese Grand Prix, Toprak Razgatlıoğlu finished 16th in the first free practice session. Having placed 21st in the Practice session that determined the day’s qualifying groups, Razgatlıoğlu will compete in Q1 on Saturday rather than proceeding directly to Q2.

For Toprak**, Q1** will begin at 04:50 (Turkish Standard Time) on Saturday 3 October. Should he finish in the top two places in Q1, he will qualify for Q2 at 05:15. The MotoGP Sprint race will take place at 09:00 on the same day. The main race will start at 08.00 on Sunday 4 October. According to the official MotoGP schedule, the main race in Japan will consist of 24 laps.

Deniz Öncü through to Q2 directly

Deniz Öncü, who competes in Moto2, finished Friday’s practice session in 12th place, securing a direct place in Q2.

Deniz’s Q2 session in the Moto2 qualifying will begin at 08.05 (CET) on Saturday 3 October. The Moto2 Japanese Grand Prix will take place at 06.15 on Sunday 4 October. The race will consist of 19 laps and cover a distance of approximately 91.2 kilometres.

Which channel will broadcast the races?

The Moto2 and MotoGP races at the Japanese Grand Prix will be broadcast live in Turkey on S Sport and S Sport Plus. On Sunday, Deniz Öncü’s Moto2 race will be shown at 06.15, whilst Toprak Razgatlıoğlu’s MotoGP main race will be broadcast at 08.00.
