Alanya’s historic migration and caravan routes will be retraced as part of an event organised to mark World Walking Day. The 4th Alanya Keykubad Migration Caravan Walk, organised by Alanya Municipality, will take place on 3 October 2026. The start time for the walk has been announced as 07.00.
This year’s route will start at Oğuz Plateau and proceed via Karakurt Stream and Malan Pass to Ortaköy Neighbourhood. The 11-kilometre route has been classified as ‘difficult’.
The route will follow historic migration routes
Throughout the walk, participants will pass through landmarks such as the Oğuz Plateau Namazgâh, Oğuzun Hanı, Arifin Suyu, Malan Pass and the Döşeme Migration Route. The route will also stretch from the Taurus Mountains region – home to the Geyik, Karayılan and Barcın mountains – to Ortaköy.
Appropriate equipment is required to take part
The council’s announcement stated that the route is suitable for those with hiking experience and who possess the appropriate equipment for a nature walk. Participants are asked to wear suitable clothing and footwear for the route, whilst it was noted that those without the appropriate equipment will not be permitted to take part in the walk.
Registration for the walk, which is expected to attract around 50 participants, will begin on Wednesday 30 September. Applications will be accepted via the registration system set up by Alanya Municipality.
